COURSE TITLE: Math GRADE LEVEL(S): 7-8 COURSE DESCRIPTION: This class is designed to enhance students’ basic math skills. It is also to help students with math deficits succeed in the general education, using the Core State Curriculum Standards to define the skills needed for functional and educational success. Our Special Education Math class is an individualized program based on the needs of students. COURSE EXPECTATIONS / GOALS / BENCHMARKS / OBJECTIVES: Students will continue to learn: Addition and subtraction of whole numbers Addition and subtraction of decimals Multiplication facts Division facts (Long Division) Students will learn: Whole number operations in a pre-algebra context Rational number operations in a pre-algebra context Percents Integers Basic geometry COURSE TEXTBOOKS / MATERIALS Pace Maker Pre-Algebra COURSE ASSIGNMENTS / REQUIREMENTS: Daily practice on math problems considered as Warm-Ups. Daily assignments from book or worksheets and activities. Completion of Unit pre-tests and post-tests. GRADING AND ASSESSMENTS (TESTS AND QUIZZES): Grading is based on individual student Individual Education Plans. Completion of Unit pre-tests and post-tests. HOMEWORK: Homework is usually not given. All materials/skills will be covered in class. INDIVIDUAL EDUCATION PLAN INFORMATION: Materials, tools, and assignments will be based on student need. |
